U.S. News and World Report ranks the Albers School of Business and Economics and the College of Science and Engineering among the best undergraduate programs in the country
For the ninth consecutive year, Seattle University (SU) has been recognized as one of the top higher education institutions in the country by U.S. News and World Report.
The 2010 edition of "America's Best Colleges" ranked SU seventh among colleges offering undergraduate and master’s programs in the West. The rankings recognize SU’s continued excellence in a number of areas including freshmen retention, graduation rate, student-to-faculty ratio and how favorably the school is regarded by administrators at peer institutions.
U.S. News and World Report ranked two of Seattle University's undergraduate programs among the best in the country. The College of Science and Engineering placed 42nd in the survey. The Albers School of Business and Economics tied for 116th with schools that include Creighton University, Gonzaga University and Xavier University; the ranking improved from 139th last year.
SU also ranked among the top 10 universities in the West for its commitment to undergraduate teaching and for offering the best value for academic quality.
The U.S. News and World Report rankings come on the heels of SU being included in The Princeton Review's 2010 edition of The Best 371 Colleges.
"Seattle University’s commitment to academic excellence continues to propel the institution toward becoming the premier independent university in the Northwest," said Provost Isiaah Crawford. "We have an exciting year ahead of us as we will launch several new and innovative graduate and undergraduate degree programs, remodel our library and bring a new learning commons facility online, and our athletic programs will enter into full Division I competition.”
